The First to 2000 WINS

It was win number 2000 as UK(12-0) just "whipped" Drexel(6-6) as the Wildcats doubled them up 88-44. A game where DeMarcus Cousins had 18 pts. and 13 rebounds also John Wall had some jaw dropping moves that make you go "whaaaaaa, thats human??"
The next closest team to 2000 is UNC with 1993 wins; UNC was close to UK at the begining of the season with Kentucky having 1988 and North Carolina having 1984. Good to see UK win that race... next to 3000 should be interesting!

What is the hold up in South Beach?

Could it be that Darnell Dodson is enjoying himself a little too much on the beach? Or is it that he has not yet qualified? The situation is still in limbo as according to WKYT, Calipari mentioned that he is not on campus yet, as all the other freshmen are. But he did say that he hopes he is on campus for the last 4-week summer school session. Maybe summer school isn't in his plans, just not everybody is made for it(see Xavier Henry). But according to a source of mine who attends Miami-Dade CC and is a close friend of Memphis recruit Will Coleman, Darnell was spotted on campus along Coleman. He is still playing pick up games from time to time, but as to his academic status, no one knows as of now.

The other freshmen, John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, and Eric Bledsoe, seem to be getting along well as evidenced by the pictures posted of them with fans around campus and at the UK Father/Son Basketball Camp last week. Daniel Orton is in San Francisco for a few weeks along with Patrick Patterson, training with Frank Matrisciano, also known as "Hell's Trainer". He has worked with big names, the most recent being Blake Griffin who was the #1 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Jon Hood is the only one left to arrive on campus out of the rest of the freshman even though he has already qualified.

"Look at my fists Xavier will be plenty of rings on them. When we beat u for the Title this year gonna save that ring for my middle finger just fo u"

Xavier Henry will stay at Kansas, but who knows he might change his mind yet again, and play for ughhh cold chill... Bill Self. In this post i will discuss Xavier's reasons for staying at Kansas.

Reasons for staying put at Kansas: Well why not play with teammates that hate you now, not to mention a certain coach that he saw last night that isn't too happy with him now. Oh wait my bad those reasons to stay. Hmmmmm let me think... nope that's weird there is no reason to stay at Kansas, thats because Kansas SUCKS!!

-Doron Lamb says that UK is his leader according to what he told Goodman on FoxSports
-Former 3 star Kentucky recruit Jesse Berry committed to Dayton today
-Just to sum KANSAS SUCKS!!!... oh my goodness sorry about that I have "bad-team" turrets... now what I meant to say is, Just to sum up what wrote about above (the Henry situation) is that Zah-vee-ay should have come to Kentucky!!

Good Gravy

Once a Kansas commit not always a Kansas commit according to Xavier Henry. Tonight Xavier's parents and him are meeting to discuss him going to Kentucky (momma won't be a deciding factor), but the Devil (Bill Self) will try to change his mind as he flies out to Xavier's house tonight.
Carl Henry has told a Kansas Sports radio show that Xavier always wanted to follow Calipari to Kentucky, but momma didn't want to move to Lexington so therefore Xavier went to Kansas... or so we thought. Stay Tuned!

Meeks to Stay In Draft! Still hasn't hired agent

Meeks (led SEC in scoring in the 2008-09 season) will stay in the draft. BUT he will not hire an agent thus once again making eligible to come back to Kentucky... but that is only if he doesn't get drafted, which means he will most likely be in the NBA next year
GOOD LUCK Jodie!

VCU satr Manor says he plays like Rondo... Meeks to talk to NBA teams

Eric Maynor told hoopsworld.com that his game most resembles Rajon Rondo, of the Boston Celtics and former UK star, with a better jump shot, and says Rondo will be an allstar one day

Jodie Meeks says he will talk to some NBA teams to get a feel on what his future will hold

May 31, 2009

Lets meet Calipari's six pack

Jon Hood:
Jon is a talented and skilled wing. He has good size for a combo wing. He can play either wing forward or scoring guard. Jon is talented, he has range on his jumper to 20 feet. He can also do some things off the bounce like slashing to the basket or creating his own shot. He will need to get stronger to be effective at the next level but he has the talent. He can sometimes be passive and unaggressive but that should change with added strength. He is a below average defender but hopefully more strength and a concerted effort should help alleviate that issue. He is an above average rebounder for his position.
Darnell Dodson:
Dodson is a quick and athletic small forward who uses his perimeter jumper to set up his slashing and pull up game when needed. He can knock down open jumpers off the catch and dribble if the defense gives him space. He also has range from 20 to 22 feet. He has improved his strength and is finishing stronger at the basket.
Eric Bledsoe:
Eric is a solid pass first point guard. He is excellent at running a team and creating opportunities for his teammates. He has a strong body and is effective getting in the lane for dump offs or scoring on his own. He is a good defender on the ball. Eric is an ok shooter with range to 19 feet. He has a very good basketball IQ and has good leadership ability. Eric is a tough competitor and has some bulldog in him as a player. He is an average basketball athlete.
Daniel Orton:
Orton is a true center that is very strong and athletic. He runs well even through when I saw him he was wearing a huge knee brace on his left knee that seemed to slow his mobility at times especially when he became tired. His productivity in the post is centered on his quick post moves after he establishes himself in the lane by using his big body to seal his man. Orton likes to use the up and under move on the left low box and on the right low box he favored the quick spin baseline to attack with his right hand if the defender was to close on the catch. He would also catch the ball with a foot in the lane and attack the middle on both sides of the floor. Orton is very explosive and can score through contact with ease. A good passer from the high post in the Athletes First high-low offensive set and can pass out of the low post to a shooter spotting up or a cutter from the weak side. Powerful defensive rebounder and shot blocker on the ball or coming to the rescue from the weak side. Orton is a physical defender that works to move his opponent out of the lane and preventing deep post ups. He will be a major factor right away in the post at the college level as long as he is in shape and healthy.
Demarcus Cousins:
2009: This top-five 2009 prospect absolutely dominates games when he focuses on the task at hand. He has the tools to score on the low block as well as take his man away from the rim. Cousins also passes the ball well and throws solid outlet passes. However, he has to alleviate his tendency to loaf, sometimes not making it over half-court. His effort and level of interest tends to fluctuate throughout games, seemingly more engaged when his opponent (in the Hoophall Classic, James Padgett from Lincoln High in New York) gets the best of him. Cousins, when interested, also uses his very big frame to establish position in the post and finish at the rim while taking on contact from opposing bigs trying to defend him in the painted area. He will also step away from the basket and score on jump shots and drives to the rim. He will connect on jumpers, but he has a tendency to rely too much on jump shots at times. Cousins needs to make effective uses of his very solid footwork and scoring abilities with his back to the bucket. He has to keep his emotions in check when he faces an opponent that plays big-time defense on him and matches Cousins' level of physicality.
John Wall:
John is perhaps the best athlete in the class. He is definitely the most athletic point guard in the class. He is the fastest guard in America from end line to end line with the ball. He has tremendous size and his athletic ability is comparable to that of current NBAer Derrick Rose. Offensively he is best as a slasher. In high school it is IMPOSSIBLE for one man to keep him out of the lane. His size, speed, handle and athletic ability are too much for any high school player. He has the ability to go left or right (he is best going right) and can finish above the rim or create for a teammate. He is a good and creative passer and has improved his decision making a lot over the last year (though he could still use some improvement). His shooting is ok and streaky. He has range to 20 feet. John is a very good rebounder for his position. Defensively he is decent. His tools should enable him to be an excellent defender in the future. Currently he looses focus and gambles a bit too much. Wall has a solid basketball IQ and has some leadership tools but could use a little improvement there. He is one of the country's top unsigned players. Wall is a long-armed and athletic lead guard. He can organize and run the team and is an excellent ball handler and passer. At times, he seems to have eyes in the back of his head. He changes speed and directions with a great burst of speed around defenders. He pushes the ball with great pace and makes the right decision on the fast break. He also penetrates deep into the lane and has a special talent to fit the ball into tight places for layups that would result in a turnover for most players. Wall can also drive, draw and kick to open shooters. During this event, he kept his turnovers to a minimum. Wall's an explosive driver both ways in the half court, he likes to drive baseline especially from the left corner. He understands how to play, I saw him repeatedly pass read the defense and make the proper cut after giving up the ball. He's not a great shooter, but is good enough to keep the defense honest. He also showed range with all his 3-point attempts being from off the catch. His shooting form is not bad, but he has an inconsistent release and he does not put his hand toward the rim on his follow through. That problem can be corrected by shooting a high number of quality shots on a daily basis. He's a good defensive rebounder and is always a threat to go coast-to-coast in about four or five dribbles. He is also a skilled offensive rebounder at the scoring guard position when his coach inserts a smaller point guard. He plays in a defensive stance and is a pretty good on-ball defender with quick hands. At times, he hops around too much which could get him beat off the dribble. He's a good shot-blocker from behind in transition or from the weak side in the half court. Wall reminds me of Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics at times; he's an immediate impact player at the high major level.

Tough times for Jarmon... Good luck in what ever you do

It was a tough day Sat. for all of Big Blue Nation, (especially Jarmon)
It was a very BIG thing for a very BIG time player to come out in public and do what he did... That took a lot of guts to admit something like that.
We all don't like to admit we have made a mistake, but to do it in front of all of Big Blue and the nation was HUGE.
GOOD LUCK JARMON!!!!!!!!!

Calipari: Not only a fan favorite but also a recruit fave as well!

Dana O'Neil's story on John Calipari and his persuasive ways via twitter
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=oneil_dana&id=4185095
After highly talented, highly recruited, not to mention highly TALENTED John Wall signed with Kentucky Blue, you begin to ask yourself what would have happened to this most storied program in all of college basketball if not for the signing of Calipari?
It is truly remarkable what he has been able to do!!! Just imagine what he can do with years as Coach of Kentucky, after witnessing what he was able to accomplish in just TWO AND HALF MONTHS!
It is a great time to be a CAT fan my friends... It just feels so good, after being in such a long drought.
GO CATS!!!!!

Xavier Henry has committed to the University of Kansas today and with that John Wall will be a bigger get. John Wall said that he has a strong idea of where he wants to play his college ball and says that a decision will come closer than expected- per rivals.com.
Also rivals have put on Eric Bledsoe's profile that UK has offered a scholarship to him.

Orton gets the Fan Favorite award!
He got the award with a 12-pts 12-rebounds performence and pretty much dominated when ever he was in.
"Mr. Basketball" John Hood had 13-pts and 5-rebounds and he hit a couple of three's.
The GOLD team (Hood and Orton team) won 151-145

Not so fast!?!

Kentucky INK just reported that they just got done talking to Orton's father (Larry) and he said that Orton asking for a release from his LOI is "not true."

Orton asks for release

Daniel Orton has asked to be released from his LOI, and will start recruiting process all over after leaning that Cousins committed to UK. He will still consider Kentucky though, but there will be lots of people going after him.

Cousins is a CAT!!!!

Demarcus Cousins is officaially a WILDCAT. ESPN's Chris Lawlor reported that Demarcus's coach told Chris Lawlor that Cousins had told him late last night.

No.15 Ole MIss gets the Sweep Of No.20 Kentucky

The University of Kentucky baseball team had tough couple of days with the Rebles of Ole Miss; as they got the sweep over the UK Wildcats.

Question is will Patterson follow Meeks?

Only time will tell if Patrick Patterson will make the same decision that Jodie did. I'd say just stay another year, but that's me... and after UNC's win last night is only four games behind the University of Kentucky's all time win total (UK-1988 UNC-1984) and the race to 2000 wins will be determined next year but you will make it there first?

Good Luck Jodie!!!!!

Good luck Jodie, everybody at Kentucky has enjoyed your every minute in a wildcat jersey. You'll succeed any where you go.
If you do decide the time isn't right then all wildcats fans will welcome you back.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Meeks will go to the NBA

Yahoo sports has said that Jodie will enter the draft, but without an agent which would allow him to come back for his senior year if he is not satisfied with his draft status.

Championship Game... Who will win?

Michigan St. vs. North Carolina
It all starts very soon

Hmmmmm... Xavier???

Now that Pastner is Headed to Memphis and Miller is headed to Arizona, there is a school that is looking for a coach and a coach looking for a school. Could Xavier players be tough enough for Gillispie? After what has been said about Gillispie being at Kentucky, dose Xavier want Gillispie as their coach? There is not that many good coach's out there and certainly Gillispie is the best coach without a job. He has a proven track record of winning and turning around programs, I'm not saying Xavier needs turning around but it would be the best hire.

Memphis gets Pastner

Memphis will take their chances with Pastner.
Andy Katz of ESPN has reported that Josh Pastner has been hired as Memphis's new head after John Calipari left for Kentucky. Pastner was the leading recruiter for Lute Olson and after Olson retired Pastner left to work under Calipari. There will be a press conference at 1:00 pm tomorrow and when that video becomes available I will post it along with Sean Miller's press conference as well
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4047664

Xavier's Miller off to Arizona

Sean Miller says goodbye to Xavier after 5 years of being their head coach. He had a 120-47 record at Xavier which is good for a 72%winning percentage. He takes the Arizona job just after turning down Arizona's offer just 1 day before. He will be their 17th basketball head coach.

When the video of his press conference is available i will post it

Lose-Lose Situation

Why a lose-lose situation? Well if Michigan St. wins a lot of people will be saying "See I told you we should have gotten him." If UNC wins then that means they move closer to our overall Win and Tournament wins record, and plus we all hate them

Gillispie to Memphis???

A Memphis paper has said that Billy Clyde Gillespie has shown interest in the newly vacated coaching job at Memphis. WOW what a story that would be. We will wait and see what happens....... or whatever.

Calipari Getting TV Time

Here is our new head coach, Calipari, with Jim Rome

Lattest on Wall

John Meyer from rivals.com has reportedly said that John Wall is leaning towards Duke, because of his mothers health issues. No matter where Mr. Wall decides to go I hope him the best and the best to his mother. I also hope that he choses Kentucky

April 5, 2009

The Wall Rundown

Lets go over Mr. Walls options… Baylor: alright ya maybe they need a point guard but not much TV time(exposure) and no dribble drive
UNC: they’ve already got a point guard and Lawson could stay for senior year and no dribble drive but gets TV time Duke: Duke SUCKS!!! Kentucky: Calipari is very well liked, he’ll get plenty of TV time, dribble drive, automatically will start and play an average of over 35 min per game, will probaly go deep into the Ncaa tournament
The choice is obvious Mr. Wall, so please make the right decision!!!

News of Cousins

Demarcus Cousins's list of schools
Kentucky: High
Kansas St.: Medium
N.C St.: Medium

Demarcus has reportedly said that he would strongly consider any school where Reggie Thesus is hired. Lets hope he makes the right choice in going to Kentucky...
